I have been working really hard creating new art for…

Harold Golen gallery presents: "MODERNITY MIAMI" opening tonight!

"Astonishing and airy, whimsical and wondrous, the mid-century architecture dubbed MiMo (Miami Modern) never fails to delight. Created from the late 1940s through the early 1970s, these structures celebrate life in a subtropical climate with a uniquely humane scale, pleasing proportions, and imaginative details. Globe-trotting photojournalists, architectural photographers, visual artists, and graphic & interior designers offer their take on the striking buildings that surround us in the exhibition "Modernity Miami: MiMo Architecture through Contemporary Eyes". The show includes works by Andrew Kaufman, Robin Hill, Michelle Bickford, El Gato Gomez, Raelene Mercer, Teri D'Amico and others."

Opening Night : Saturday, March 10, 2012
6:00pm - 11:00pm

I have been accepted to participate in this years LALUZAPALOOZA at the La Luz Gallery! March 2 - April 1, 2012

Opening Reception Friday March 2nd 8-11 pm

14 1/2" x 17 1/2"
SOLD

This has since been sold but if you would like to see what is still available you can find them here.

"La Luz De Jesus Gallery proudly rebrands our annual juried group exhibition, LALUZAPALOOZA. This gigantic, no-theme show features works from some of the freshest and most relevant artists working today. Over 9,000 submissions from commercial illustrators, graphic designers, tattooists, scenics, students, animators and working gallery artists had to be sorted-through, and we've finally narrowed it down to 125 or so artists. The official piece count is awaiting verification, but you can bet that it will be another (tastefully) jam-packed, salon-style exhibition. There are some familiar names from our ever-growing roster of feature artists, but an overwhelming percentage of the work comes from a brand new batch of undiscovered, emerging talent."

M Modern Gallery opening that kicked off Modernism Week Feb 2012 in Palm Springs

sold and sold

Just winding down from this year's Palm Springs Modernism Week where there was just too much coolness to absorb. I was the guest of the gracious Joe Tatar (of Modern HQ) and his swingin' gal while taking part in M Modern Gallery's Tiki art exhibition, hosted by Sven Kirsten. Shag and Bosko also had their new art released that evening + just about everyone and their grandma was there… it was so hoppin' that I barely had time to breathe.

At one point, I got my picture taken with Craig Fundyga  (Mr. Vibraphone), of the fabulous "Martini Kings".

Grouchy…

…not grouchy!

Take my advice, if you can make it next year, please do. It is a full week of everything Mid-Century Modern.

Favorites revisited

Since I have been so busy with art commissions and gallery submissions, I have decided to post some of my art from when I first began creating my work in 3D. You can see how the shapes float just a bit above the actual background and graphic elements which gives everything added dimension.

I painted this with a 1950s / 1960s architectural illustration feel mixed with an abstract flair. I have always loved the beautiful retro architecture drawings of that era and really enjoy being able to express myself through it.
